Erica K. Smith Roodhouse, Esq.
Founder & Attorney
After practicing law for almost two decades, Erica K. Smith Roodhouse founded Roodhouse Law, PLLC in January 2026. Together with practicing estate planning, probate and trust administration, and guardianship law, she also frequently writes and speaks on those subjects.
Erica earned her law degree, with honors, from Stetson University College of Law and is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of The College of William and Mary. She is a St. Petersburg native, who enjoys life in the ‘Burg with her husband and pets.

Erica is active within the legal profession and has proudly served as:
- President of the St. Petersburg Bar Association
- President of the Suncoast Estate Planning Council
- Chair of Grievance Committee D of the Sixth Judicial Circuit
She is a Graduate of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel’s Florida Fellows Institute and one of the current authors of the Florida Bar’s Basic Estate Planning in Florida treatise.
Erica has a passion for the Tampa Bay community and volunteer work. She currently serves as:
- Immediate Past Chair and Board Member of the Pinellas Community Foundation
- Board Member for the Community Law Program
- Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees at First United Methodist Church
She recently completed her term as an Executive Board Member at the St. Petersburg Free Clinic.
Among her accomplishments, Erica is honored to have received the following awards and recognition:
- Florida Bar President’s Pro Bono Award for the Sixth Judicial Circuit
- 2025 St. Petersburg Bar Foundation Heroes Among Us Award
- Recognition as a Finalist in the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce’s Iconic Women of Vision Award
Karen B. Grammer
Paralegal
Karen Grammer is a Kentucky native who began her legal career as a legal secretary for a preeminent trusts and estates attorney in Lexington, Kentucky over 30 years ago. Her skill in drafting documents, preparing gift tax returns, and funding trusts quickly earned her a promotion to paralegal.
Karen and her husband moved to Florida in 2001 to leave behind the snow, ice, and cold weather of Kentucky. Working first as an estate planning paralegal in Lakeland and Orlando, Karen later settled in Pinellas County in 2008. Once in Pinellas, she worked at a solo practice in Tampa, where she gained experience in probate administration.
Karen began working as Erica’s paralegal in 2014. With her knowledge in estate planning, probate, trust administration, and guardianships, she provides comprehensive and efficient support to clients through every stage of the estate planning, probate and trust administration, and guardianship process.
While not at the office, Karen plays French horn in the Pinellas Park Orchestra and Pinellas Wind Symphony.
